I sent a talk to text message today and later noticed that Siri changed “hypnotherapy” to “hip no therapy”. What the duck Siri?!?! But after looking at it for a minute I realized that Siri is a genius! As I’m doing more and more research for my (re)treat.s, I’ve noticed somewhat of a trend toward “non-traditional”, alternative and complimentary mental health practices. Hypnotherapy, positive psychology, mindfulness, and meditation aren’t just for granola loving, tree hugging, free-spirited, hippies anymore (all words that have lovingly been used to describe me by friends and family members). This makes me really excited! I think it invites more people to explore the possibilities of mental health and wellness. This is the realization that, like our physical health, we can also be proactive with our mental health. Wouldn’t it be great if we could be less anxious, depressed, and self-loathing without hitting rock bottom, coming to our wits end, or having a breakdown? I’m interested in what you guys think about this shift, and I can’t wait to share these practices with everyone!
